busy busy busy
So I may not have much time to update in the next few weeks with the scholarship application and lots of hw and midterms, but wanted to get a couple things down.
We had a party this weekend to celebrate late September/early October birthdays - so there were about 6 or 7 people being celebrated. The party was totally awesome. There were so many people in our house, it was ridiculous - I think I probably knew a quarter of them. But we finished the keg - it floated around 2:30 in the morning, so I was glad of that. (Didn't want to have to take another half full keg back to Green's). There was definitely a lot of cleaning to be done the next morning, but it didn't actually take too long. Most of it was cups - they were everywhere.
I have another column coming out on Friday (it got bumped the other week because they had some long letters to the editor). So read that.
I watched the debate last week. Kerry totally won, which I was glad about. Bush totally looked pissed off throughout most of it and was getting kind of antsy. He really looked like he wanted to go over to Kerry and clock him. Heh. I think Kerry did a good job of clarifying his position on the war and what he wants to see done in Iraq. Bush has made a lot of mistakes with it, and things are getting worse. During the debate, he actually had the nerve to say that "America and the world are safer for" the Iraq war having occured and Saddam Hussein having been captured. Um, yeah... tell that to all those foreign people that have been kidnapped in Iraq, tell that to the people in Iraq who are afraid to vote or get a job with the police for fear of getting shot. The link at the bottom of this post is of a letter that a Wall Street Journal reporter wrote to his friends at home. I think a lot of Americans aren't really aware that conditions in Iraq have deteriorated to this degree. Basically, I just think Bush had his chance, and he hasn't fixed the problem, so it's time for someone else to try. Link
